Porcelain photos, also referred to as ceramic portraits, serve as touching reminders of the life that was lost to all who visit the graveside of loved one. They can be added to either granite or bronze grave markers of any shape or size. They are a beautiful way to pay final tribute to a cherished family member or friend.
Porcelain photos are produced by scanning a photograph into a computer. The manufacturer can then perfect the digital image through color correction. They can also touch up any unwanted blemishes on the image. They can also crop images or blow them up to a larger size (although some slight degradation of the image may occur if the image is enlarged.) Some can even add digital effects such as turning a color photo into a black and white one.
Because porcelain photos are fired at very high temperatures during the printing process, they are able to endure the extremes of both weather and the environment. The firing process ensures that the colors will not fade and the finish will not deteriorate. The image will be as permanent as the marker on which it is mounted.
Ceramic portraits can be printed on either flat or domed surfaces. Whether it is being mounted on a granite or bronze marker, silicon will produce the appropriate bond strength to keep the image secure. Should the image be damaged or become detached and lost, many manufacturers keep a record of the digital photo master and should be able to replace it.
